Trip Overview

The 24 Days Birding & Wildlife Safari Tour takes you Gorilla Trekking, Mountaineering and Wildlife Adventuring in Mgahinga National Park, Mountain Rwenzori National Park, Semliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 1: Arrival and Pick Up

On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you are picked up by a company driver guide who transfers you on a Kampala City Tour visiting the various Tourist Destinations i.e the man made Kabaka’s lake, Uganda Museum, Bahai Temple, Uganda Marty’s Namugongo shrine, Namirembe cathedral and also Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. After the City Tour, transfer to check-in your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Serena Hotel Kampala, Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 2: Transfer to Kisoro        

Wake up have breakfast then embark on your transfer to Kisoro Town with en-route views of the green forest vegetation, Bird species, etc. This drive will take you through the natural scenery sightings in Kisoro and reward you with sightings of the bamboo and montane forest of the Echuya reserve with splendorous views of the north to the Virungas from the elevated Kanaba Gap. Dinner and Overnight at Travelers’ Rest Hotel, Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Bird Watching in Mgahinga

Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing on the Dos and Don’ts around the Mountain Gorillas in Mgahinga National Park. Track the Gorillas for 3-5 hours in the forest and when you meet them only an hour is allowed to stay in their presence taking numerous photos to keep for memories. After tracking, break off for lunch then later in the evening, proceed to enjoy Bird watching in the green forest and the Birds you watch include; Ibis, Whydah, Speckled Mouse bird, and Fire Finch, Stonechat, Grey Capped Warbler and the Waxbills. Return to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Travelers’ Rest Hotel, Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking in Mgahinga National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the headquarters for briefing on the Dos and Don’ts around the Golden monkeys in their natural forest habitat. With an experienced park ranger guide, penetrate the forest to track the Golden Monkeys for 2-4 hours and when you meet them, follow them along the various trails watching these jumping and running through the forest. After tracking, transfer for a Batwa Community Visit/ Walk where you know about the local pygmy people. Return to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Travelers’ Rest Hotel, Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 5: Transfer to Mountain Rwenzori Park

Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage, transfer to Rwenzori Mountain National Park  to the Nyakalengija trail  where you leave and start hiking through the vegetation zones to Nyabitaba Hut. Follow through the varying Canopies, Slopes of Podocarpus forest. En-route watch different Birds and Primates then after a while you reach the Nyabitaba hut.

Day 6: Matte Hut (River Mubuku)

Commence on a morning hike from Nyabitaba hut after your breakfast to John Matte Hut. Tumble down through a small trail to the forest for Kurt Shafer Bridge and cogitate at the luminous Mubuku River. Descend through the open moss forest and open patches before you reach John matte hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: To Bujuku

After breakfast go through the magnificent view setting of mount Stanley, Baker and Speke, with a panoramic landscape of the gigantic Groundsel via River Bujuku to the home of the giant Lobelias in the Bigo Bog. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku hut.

Day 8: Scott Elliott Pass

Ascend the main trail to Scott-Elliot Pass (4372m) through the paranormal Groundsel Gully from Bujuku hut down to Kitandara lakes. After the Gully, head over a steep rocky trail to Elena hut a base camp for climbing Margherita peak.

Day 9: To Kitandara Hut

Cut below the massive rock walls at the base of Mt. Baker form the Scott Elliott pass via upper Kitandara Lake through the bad mud to the lower lake and Kitandara Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Guy Yeoman Hut

Set off to Guy Yeoman after breakfast from Kitandara close to the Mubuku River and enjoy the terrific views of the Mount Baker in the north and surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the mountain. Have dinner and overnight at Guy Yeoman hut.

Day 11: to Nyitamba

Take an early morning trek towards Kachuchu to Nyabitaba and take a rest after the strenuous past days mountain hike. Later transfer to the park headquarters with dinner and overnight at Margherita Hotel.

Day 12: Transfer to Mpanga Gorge

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Mpanga Gorge located a few kilometers beyond the Northeast corner of Lake George where you watch Uganda’s ecological treasure the Cycad an endemic in the gorge. While here, view the Mpanga River that flows from Kibale Forest National Park following along the border of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 13: Transfer to Semliki Valley

After your breakfast drive to the most spectacular section of the Albertine rift in the Semliki Valley. Enjoy sightings of the acacia Savannah dotted with borassus palms.  A visit to the geothermal Hot springs at Sempaya will reward you with views of the female spring at the edge of the Semliki Forest and the male spring approached through the beautiful palm forest trail and broad walks across the hot swamp.

After your lunch, embark on a community walk where you explore the Batwa culture as you visit the local pygmies who live on the forest edge at Ntandi and get an insight of their way of life and culture. Return for dinner and overnight at Semliki Game Lodge, Semliki Safari Lodge.

Day 14: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Chimpanzee Tracking ToursAfter your breakfast drive off from the Semliki Park to the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park where you enjoy a game drive along the various tracks in the park. Watch Wildlife Animals like the Uganda Kob, lion, buffalo, topi, leopard etc.  After, proceed to your hotel/ lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Mweya Safari lodge, Tembo Safari Lodge.

Day 15: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bird Watching in Kyambura Gorge

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing on the Dos and Don’ts around the Chimpanzees in their natural forest vegetation. Follow trails in the Kyambura Gorge watching the Chimpanzees tracking them from one place to another for a period of 3-5 hours and when you meet them the adventure is exceptional. As you track the Chimpanzees, watch various birds along the trails and these include; the Black Bee Eaters and the Blue Breasted Kingfisher, Black and African Black Emerald Cuckoos, Speckled Tinker bird, green Hylia, White-spotted Fluftail. After your experience, proceed for Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Tembo Safari Lodge.

Day 16: Bird watching at Maramagambo Forest

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Maramagambo Forest to watch various bird species flying around the Natural forest vegetation as well as the forested shore of Lake Kyasanduka. Along the trails you watch primates like the the red-tailed and vervet, black and white Colobus and the L’Hoests monkey etc. After break off for lunch then later proceed to lean about Salt Mining along Lake Katwe where they inform you about the process of Mining Salt in the Lake and its advantages to the local people around the Lake. Dinner and overnight Mweya Safari Lodge, Tembo Safari Lodge.

Day 17: Transfer to Kampala

Wake up have breakfast, then embark on your transfer to Kampala and en-route have beautiful views at the green flora and numerous species of Fauna. After a while, you reach the City, check-in your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Serena Hotel Kampala, Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 18: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Murchison Falls National Park along the Kampala-Gulu Highway for a period of 4-5 hours. En-route you visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek the white Rhinos in their natural vegetation then later break off for lunch. After lunch proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and when you reach take on an en-route evening Game Drive watching various wildlife animals then later proceed to check-in your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Murchison River Lodge, Pakuba Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 19: Game Drive and Boat Cruise 

Wake up have breakfast then transfer on a morning Game Drive along the various tracks watching numerous species of wildlife wandering around their natural Savannah vegetation habitat. After your Game Drive, break off for lunch then later in the afternoon at 2:30 pm, transfer to experience a Boat cruise to the Bottom of the Falls watching various wildlife animals along the Banks of the Victoria Nile, Bird species and green vegetation terrain in a distance. Return to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Murchison River Lodge, Pakuba Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 20: Chimpanzee Tracking in Budongo Forest

Wake up early have breakfast then transfer to Budongo Forest to track the Chimpanzees in their natural forest habitat. Transfer in groups with a skilled park ranger who informs you about the green forest as well as the wildlife and primates species in the forest especially the Chimpanzees. On meeting the chimpanzees, take numerous photos to keep for memories. After Chimpanzee tracking, transfer back to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Murchison River Lodge, Pakuba Safari Lodge, Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 21: Departure to Kampala 

Wake up have breakfast then with your luggage, embark on a transfer to Kampala/ Entebbe International Airport to board your flight back home.
