Detailed Itinerary of the 10 Days Uganda Wildlife, Hiking & Rhino Trekking Safari
Day 1: Arrival & Pick Up
You will be welcomed by our company driver guide upon your arrival, thereafter you will be transferred to your hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge Buziga.
Day 2: City Tour
Our safari guide will pick you up from your hotel after your breakfast for a city tour around Kampala. On this trip you will get exposed to some of the major cultural and religious sites in Uganda which may include the Uganda Museum known to be the oldest in East Africa, the man-made Kabaka’s lake, the only temple of the Bahai faith in Africa (Bahai temple in Kanyanya), Namugongo shrines, Namirembe cathedral and also Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. Return for Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge Buziga.
Day 3: Transfer to the Source of the River Nile
After your breakfast, you will again be picked up from your hotel by our company driver guide and drive to Jinja. You will make a detour to the Sezibwa Falls, which are mythically believed to be a human-born river. Thereafter, you will proceed to Jinja with the green scenery view of tea plantations and sugarcane plantations.
Bypassing the Owen Falls dams, Uganda’s electricity manufacturing point, besides other en route attractions. After your lunch, you will visit the source of the Nile and thereafter proceed to Bujagali Falls to view the spectacular rapids on the river Nile just a few kilometres from the source. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort.
Day 4: In Jinja
Today you will have an adventurous experience of water rafting which is unforgettable on the high-grade rapids of the Mighty Nile. The experience also takes you to a bird-watching Haven with a variety of Bird species. Dinner and an overnight stay at Jinja Nile Resort.
Day 5: Transfer to Mt. Elgon National Park
After your breakfast, you will drive to Mbale for the great Elgon surrounding tour. Arriving late afternoon, you will proceed directly to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Mount Elgon Hotel.
Day 6: Mt Elgon National Park
Today after your break fast you will visit the dreamy Sipi Falls, north of Mbale and thereafter a nature walk which will reward you with sights of different floral species including Elgonensis lobelia and dotted clusters of peculiar groundsels. After your lunch, visit the caves and the plantations of coffee, matooke and sugar cane. In the evening, return to Mbale, for dinner and overnight at Mount Elgon Hotel.
Day 7: Rhino Trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
You will leave Mbale for Murchison Falls National Park after your breakfast, passing via Kampala to have a panoramic drive northwest through the famous battle zone of the Luwero Triangle.
Have a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, an extinction of Uganda’s rhinos established to breed black and white rhinos to restore the rhino population that was greatly reduced in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching. Dinner and overnight at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Amuka Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park
Go for a morning game drive after your breakfast, and you will be rewarded with views of different habitats which may include, giraffes, Elephants, Bushbucks Lion, Jackal, Hartebeest and a variety of bird life. Take a drive to the top of the falls. From the different viewpoints you will be able to see the refreshing spray as the second world’s longest river, the Mighty Nile, thunders through different rapids from a 7-metre gap to fall over 40 metres below.
Enjoy a launch trip after your lunch, and you will further be rewarded with views of different wildlife species. These may include schools of Hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and sometimes elephants, among others. Many birds can also be seen at the banks of the river. These may include goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican bee-eaters, kingfishers, Hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork. Evening game drive before you retire for dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 9: Nature Walk in Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you will enter the tropical rainforest of Budongo for a guided nature walk. In the forest, there are several chimpanzees as well as other primates. After your lunch, you will have an encounter with elephants, lions, giraffes, cape buffalos, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, spotted hyenas, hartebeests and at times leopards and lions in a game drive on the Northern banks of the Nile. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 10: Departure to Kampala
After your breakfast, leave the park and drive back to Kampala.
