Detailed Itinerary of the 17 Days Best Uganda Safari – Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife

Day 1: Arrival-Pick Up                                                                                 

On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up Company driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel/ lodge in Kampala for Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 2: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Today after your morning breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala by your driver guide and set off for the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Masindi trekking Rhinos you will break off for lunch then transfer to Murchison Falls National Park a distance that will take you 2-3 hours then when you get here transfer to your lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive at Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the park where you will transfer along various tracks watching numerous wildlife animals wandering from one place to another grazing on the Savannah grasslands, these include; giraffes, kobs, elephants, water bucks, buffalo, hippos, leopard, lions, topis, bushbuck, duicker etc. After the morning to mid-day game drive, you will break off for lunch and then later transfer back to experience another game drive. After the experience, you will return to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight.  Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Day 4 of the 17 Days Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari: Game Drive & Boat Cruise-Murchison Falls National Park

After your breakfast you will drive toward the Albert Nile for a game viewing drive on the northern bank of the Nile River where you will get exposed to its habitant species Possible sightings on this trip may include the Rothschild Giraffe, Elephant, Jackson Hartebeest, Lions, Waterbucks and a variety of Savannah woodland birds. After your lunch, you will enjoy an afternoon Launch cruise along the Victoria Nile. Expect hippos and crocodiles along the River banks as you take this ride to the bottom of the falls.  Dinner and overnight at  Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Kibale Forest National Park situated a few kilometres off the beautiful Fort Portal Town. En route, you will spot some wildlife animals in the Savannah grasslands as well as Mountain Rwenzori in a distance and with en-route lunch, you will reach the park and transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Day 6: Nature Walks – Kibale Forest National Park

Wake up have breakfast then later embark on a guided nature walk in the misty tropical forest where you will trace various primates like the  L’Hoest’ monkeys, red colobus monkey, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkeys and the grey-cheeked mangabeys etc.

After your lunch, you will take a scenic drive to the Crater Lake region where you will get a chance to enjoy the scenery of various Crater Lakes. Transfer for dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking – Kibale Forest National Park

This morning you will report to the park headquarters after your breakfast for a briefing session from the UWA official about the tracking code of conduct around the Chimpanzees. You will track these for 3-5 hours with a skilled ranger guide and when you meet them only an hour is allowed to stay in their presence taking numerous photos to keep for memories. After the experience, you will transfer back to your lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Diner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 8: Semliki National Park

Wake Up for breakfast then transfer to explore the stunning Sempaya Hot Springs in Semliki National Park along the nature walks, you will spot birds, and green terrain vegetation then later you will reach the hot springs. After the visit to the hot springs, you will break off for lunch and then proceed to visit the stunning pygmy villages to learn more about their livelihood. After the experience, you will transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Semliki Safari Lodge.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park

17 Days Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will take on a game drive around the various tracks in the park. En route, you will spot various wildlife animals like elephants, Kobs, buffalo, lions, hyenas, antelopes etc.
After your lunch, you will take a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and George. This trip will reward you and expose you to the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa besides the bird life of both typical and migrants.

Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will drive through the grassland area, where you will come across an amazing gorge of tropical rainforest. Ramble into Kyambura River Gorge for an astonishing lifetime experience hiking chimpanzees. You will get exposed to the beautiful river valley home to many butterflies and birds in the park.
After your lunch, you will have a game drive through the Ishasha sector to encounter the tree-climbing lions as they rest in the fig trees. Thereafter proceed to Lake Bunyonyi where you will enjoy a boat ride on the lake shore near Rutinda that may reward you with sightings of various water species that may include the water birds and many more. Dinner and an Overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages.

Day 11: Bwindi Forest National Park                  

Wake up have breakfast then transfer on your journey to Bwindi Forest National Park en-route, you will spot green terrain vegetation and the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. You will reach Bwindi Forest National Park and transfer directly to your lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Engagi Lodge.

Day 12: Gorilla Tracking at Bwindi Forest National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to the Park Headquarters to be briefed about the Dos and Don’ts around the Mountain Gorillas in groups of 8 with a skilled ranger guide, you will transfer into the forest vegetation to track the Gorillas for 3-5 hours and when you meet them only an hour is allowed to stay in their presence taking photos to keep for memories. After tracking them, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Engagi Lodge.

Day 13: Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast then leave Bwindi Forest National Park for Lake Mburo National Park en route you will spot the stunning scenery and have lunch.

After lunch, you will proceed to the park which you will reach in the evening and transfer to experience a boat cruise along Lake Mburo where you will watch Hippos and crocodiles as well as various species of birds like; Papyrus gonolek, blue-headed coucal, southern ground hornbill and mosque swallow. After, you will transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Mihingo lodge.

Day 14: Buggala Island

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Entebbe en route, you will spot various wildlife animals like the zebras, topis, elephants, elands, impalas, buffalos antelope etc. When you reach Entebbe, you will transfer to the shores of Lake Victoria to board a boat to enable you to traverse to the Buggala Islands with beautiful sightings at the sandy beaches and birds like eagles, hammerheads, hornbills and kingfishers. When you reach the Islands, you will transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach

Day 15: At Buggala Island

This morning after your breakfast you will take a boat ride to Bukasa Island along Lake Victoria. You will be rewarded with splendorous views of the bird species on the water and on the shores too. You will also encounter magnificent scenic views of the unique waterfalls and stones. Laze around the beach after a whole day’s ride on the beautiful lake or embark on optional sport fishing. Transfer back for dinner and overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach.

Day 16: Buggala Island

Today you will go for a forest walk after your breakfast in search of the animal habitats on this beautiful misty Island forest. Return to your lodge for lunch.  Embark on an afternoon canoe ride after your lunch to the Ssese Island. A campfire will be arranged for you on this last evening on the Island before you retire for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 17: Departure to Entebbe

This morning you will leave the resort early morning after your breakfast to catch a ferry transfer back to Entebbe where you board a flight back home.
