Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days Uganda Birding Tour

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Entebbe Botanical Gardens

On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you are picked up by a company driver guide who transfers you to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens where you watch various species of birds i.e the Palm-nut Vulture, Great Blue Turaco, Eastern Gray Plantain-eater, African Pied Hornbill, Splendid Glossy Starling and Orange and Slender-billed Weavers, Golden Backed, orange weaver and thereafter you transfer to Kampala for Dinner and Overnight at Cassia lodge, Serena Hotel Kampala, Excellent Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Mgahinga National Park and en-route, view the Echuya forest around Muchuya swamp with numerous bird species i.e the Francolinus nobilis, Ploceus alienus , Batias diops, Cryptospiza etc. Reach the beautiful National Park then break off for lunch and later proceed to check-in your lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Mount Gahinga lodge, Nkuringo Safari Lodge, Kisoro Toursit Hotel.

Day 3: Bird Watching in Mgahinga National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Ntebeko Camp in Mgahinga National Park where you watch numerous species of Birds i.e the shy Shelly’s Crimson-wing, Dusky Turtle Dove, Rwenzori Turaco, Cape Robin-Chat, Kivu Ground Thrush, White-eyed Slaty and White Tailed Blue Flycatcher, Olive Wood-pecker, White-starred Robin, Mountain Yellow Warbler, White-napped Raven, Lagden’s Bush-Shrike, Yellow-crowned Canary, Streaky and Thick Billed Seed eater. After watching, transfer aback to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Travelers Rest Hotel, Mount Gahinga lodge, Nkuringo Safari Lodge, Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park to enjoy nature walks along various trails watching many birds in the forest and these include; the pigeon forest, flycatcher, Rwenzori Turaco, greater flamingo, bar-tailed god wit, pink-backed pelican and the papyrus canary,white-faced Whistling & Knob-billed Ducks, African Spoonbill, Open-billed & Saddle-billed Storks, Collared Pratincole, Water Thick-knee, Spur-winged & African Wattled Plovers etc. In the afternoon, you will transfer for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will spot water birds between Lake Albert and Gorge. After, transfer back to your hotel/ lodge for Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, Hippo Hill Camp, Simba Lodge.

Day 5: Birding in Mubwindi Swamp

Wake up have breakfast then transfer to Mubwindi Swamp located a few kilometers off Bwindi Forest National Park and when you reach here, enjoy views of various bird species like the Grauer’s (African Green) Broadbill, beautiful Regal Sunbird and Archer’s Robin-Chat, broadbill, Black-billed Turaco, Olive, Elliot’s and Fine-banded Woodpecker, African Hill Babbler, Mountain Illadopsis, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Mountain Greenbul, Grey Cuckoo Shrike, Red-faced Woodland and Mountain Yellow Warbler, Chestnut-throated Collard and Black Throated Apalis, Stripe-breasted Tit, African Green-Broadbill, Mountain, Shelley’s and Yellow-streaked Greenbul, Rwenzori Batis, Regal Sunbird etc. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Resort, Silver backs Lodge, Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 6: Birding in Semliki National park then Departure

After your breakfast head to Semlki National Park located a few kilometers off the stunning Fort Portal Town and you will possibly watch birds like; the Congo Serpent Eagle, Black-throated Coucal, Grey-throated Rail, Nkulengu Rail, Long–tailed Hawk, Spot-breasted Ibis, Capuchin Babbler, Yellow-throated Nicator, Northern Bearded Scrub Robin, Red-chested Owlet, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon etc. AFter your bird watching experience, embark on your transfer to Kampala/ Entebbe international Airport to board your flight back home.
