Day 1: Entebbe Botanical Gardens & UWEC

Detailed Itinerary of the 3 Days Uganda Birding Tour

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Botanical Gardens and UWEC

After dropping at Entebbe International Airport you are welcomed and driven by a Company Driver then transferred to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens where you watch different Birds.

Walking in the gardens with your binoculars and bird watching equipment, watch birds like the Palm-nut Vulture, Great Blue Turaco, Eastern Gray Plantain-eater, African Pied Hornbill, Splendid Glossy Starling and Orange and Slender-billed Weavers, Golden Backed, orange weaver etc.

Later on embark on lunch and later go to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) where you watch birds like the rare Northern Masked and Orange Weavers, Kingfishers, Sunbirds, parrots, African fish eagle, ostrich, crested crane. Transfer to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 2: Mabira Forest-Bird Watching

Today have breakfast then proceed to Mabira Forest situated a few kilometers off Kampala City. When you reach here join other birders then with a guide/ ranger enter the forest to watch birds like the Black-shouldered Nightjar, capuchin. Grey Long bill and blue headed and blue headed crested Fly catcher.

When finished with watching the birds, transfer to Kampala. Dinner and Overnight. Cassia Lodge Buziga.

Day 3: Mpanga Forest-Bird Watching

Today you watch the Birds of Mpanga Forest located along Kampala – Masaka Highway about 54 kms off Kampala.

En-route you reach Kakku Swamp where you view the sought after Shoe bill Stork, hornbills, Sunbirds, Greenbuls, barbets. Later on reaching Mpanga Forest the bird species you watch include; Blue-breasted kingfisher, Weyn’s Weaver, White-spotted Flufftail, Blue-shouldered Robin-chat, Grey Parrot, Lemon Dove, Black-billed Turaco, Fire-crested Alethe, Snowy-headed Robin-chat, Dusky Long-tailed Cuckoo, Hair-breasted Barbet, Woodland Warbler, Olive Greenbul, Sooty Boubou. When done, return to Kampala at Cassi Lodge Buziga.
