Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Upon your arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by our company driver at Entebbe International for transfer to your hotel at Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/ Excellent Hotel (Budget) for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer-Kisoro       

After your breakfast you will be picked from your Hotel and hit the road for Kisoro town. This drive will take you through the natural scenery sightings in Kisoro and reward you with sightings of the bamboo and montane forest of the Echuya reserve with splendorous views of the north to the Virungas from the elevated Kanaba Gap. Dinner and overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge and Travelers’ Rest Hotel / Kisoro tourist Hotel    

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking-Mgahinga

This morning you will report to the park headquarters after you breakfast before you adventure into a life time hilarious experience of tracking down the Nyakagezi gorilla group composed of 9 members; 3 adult females, 2 silver backs, 2 juveniles and 2 infants. You will have a briefing session from a UWA official about the mountain gorilla tracking code of conduct and thereafter you will be led through the undergrowth parting thick creepers. You can embark on optional birding in this scenic park in the evening where you may be rewarded with sightings of various bird species at the edge of the park. Possible sightings may include, Ibis, Whydah, Speckled Mouse bird, and Fire Finch, Stonechat, Grey Capped Warbler and the Waxbills among others Retire for dinner and overnight stay at Mgahinga Safari Lodge and Travelers’ Rest Hotel / Mount Gahinga Rest Camp.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking 

Today, have an encounter with the park’s endangered species restricted to the rift valley (Golden monkeys). After your breakfast, you will be guided through the bamboo zone for a wonderful encounter with the golden monkeys through the tracking adventure. This activity will expose you further to the wildlife within the park. After you lunch take pleasure in a community walk in the par’s neighboring Batwa community. You will explore the pygmies’ way of life and have an in sight of the historical tales with a visit to the Garama cave. Retire for dinner and overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge and Travelers’ Rest Hotel / Mount Gahinga Rest Camp.

Day 5: Transfer-Queen Elizabeth N Park

Experience the most diverse park in Uganda after your breakfast with a drive to Queen Elizabeth. Enjoy a game drive as you entre in to the park and you will be exposed to the wild life in this magnificent park. Possible sightings may include the Uganda kob, topi, hyena, buffalos, lions, leopard, giant forest hog and many more. Dinner and overnight at Mweya safari lodge/Hippo Hills camp/ Simba safari lodge

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking

You will have a briefing session about the tracking code of conduct at the park headquarters after your break fast and thereafter catch-up with the tracking experience of the chimpanzees in their natural habitant in the Kyambura gorge.  You will be rewarded with views of the forest habitants in the gorge surrounding for example the Black Bee Eaters and the Blue Breasted Kingfisher, Black and African Black Emerald Cuckoos, Speckled Tinker bird, green Hylia, White-spotted Fluftail ,  and lots of others.
After your lunch, a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel will further reward you with scenic wild life views of the Nile crocodile, hippopotamus, with a variety of bird life. Dinner and over night at Mweya safari lodge/ Hippo Hill Camp/Simba Safari lodge.

Day 7: Birding-Queen Elizabeth

After your break fast take a walk in to the misty Maramagambo forest and catch-up with the early morning risers in the thick forest especially the habitant rich bird life through the Forested shore of Lake Kyasanduka trail. Other possible sightings on this trail may include monkeys like the red-tailed and vervet, black and white Colobus and the L’Hoests monkey.
After your lunch witness an interesting process of manual salt mining on Lake Katwe at the Katwe salt works and don’t miss out on the explanations about the whole process from the onsite guide. Dinner and overnight Mweya safari lodge/ Hippo Hill camp/ Simba Safari lodge.

Day 8: Transfer-Mpanga gorge

This morning after your breakfast, head off to Mpanga gorge a few kilometers beyond the northeast corner of Lake George. You will be rewarded with sightings of Uganda’s ecological treasure the CYCAD an endemic in the gorge. The highest concentration / population of the cycad is known to be highest at this spot in the world. You will be able to spot Mpanga River that originates upstream from Kibale National Park and flows gently along the boundary of Queen Elizabeth Park into Lake George Ramsar site and the Mpanga Power Station.

Day 9: Transfer-Semliki Valley

After your breakfast drive to the most spectacular section of the Albertine rift in the Semliki Valley. You will enjoy sightings of the acacia savannah dotted with borassus palms.  A visit to the geothermal Hot springs at Sempaya will reward you with views of the female spring at the edge of the Semliki Forest and the male spring approached through the beautiful palm forest trail and broad walks across the hot swamp. After your lunch, embark on a community walk where you will explore the Batwa culture. You will visit the pygmies who live on the forest edge at Ntandi and get an insight of their way of life and culture. Transfer to Semliki National Park for dinner and at Semliki Lodge/ Hotel Vanilla /UWA campsite

Day 10: Birding-Semliki National Park

Today after your morning breakfast, take pleasure in a guided nature walk in the vast extension of the Ituri forest and you will be rewarded with sightings of early risers. Trail through the two main springs set in a lush swampy clearing close to the south eastern corner of the forest.  You may spot bird species like the  yellow throated tinker bird, horn-bills, red-rumped and Frasier’s ant-thrush, blue-breasted King fisher and honey guide greenbul among others besides the habitant primates which include the red-tailed monkey, grey checked Mangabey and Black and white colobus monkeys. A visit to the Mungilo waterfall will reward you with an excellent site for hornbill species.
After your lunch a walk through the eastern boundary of the Semliki River will expose you to a variety of water birds, monkey’s hippos and crocodiles. You may also spot the elephants and buffalos on this trail. Dinner and overnight stay at Semliki Lodge/ Hotel Vanilla /UWA campsite

Day 11: Game Drive

After your breakfast embark on a breathtaking memorable experience in the morning game viewing drive in the magnificent park. Towards the Semliki River, birders will be rewarded with rich views of a variety of bird species besides the magnificent flora.
After your lunch a visit to Ntandi pygmy village of the early inhabitants of the forest, will expose you to the Ugandan rural lifestyle of the bush men. Transfer back for dinner and overnight in your lodge at Semliki Lodge/ Hotel Vanilla /UWA campsite

Day 12: Transfer-Queen Elizabeth

After your breakfast drive off from the Semliki Park to the diverse park of Queen Elizabeth. You will enjoy a game drive as you enter the park with a spectacular view of its habitant wild life. Possible sightings may include; the Uganda Kob, lion, buffalo, topi, leopard among others.  Head to Mweya safari lodge/Hippo Hills camp/ Simba safari lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 15: Departure-Kampala

After your breakfast, depart from the western part of Uganda for Uganda’s capital Kampala. You will be rewarded with en-route sightings of the magnificent scenery composed of various flora and fauna. You will have an enroute lunch. End your safari upon your arrival.
